ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - After the subfreezing temperatures last week, a pattern flip just in time for the first week of winter and the Christmas holiday week will feature above average readings on the thermometer over South Georgia. The same high pressure responsible for the very warm conditions will keep any meaningful chance of rainfall away from the area as well.

Today will be the coolest day of the week with highs in the mid 60s north of Albany to upper 60s to lower 70s south of Albany to the Florida border. Lows tonight will be in the 40s areawide.

The warmup will ratchet up a notch tomorrow, with highs in the 70s throughout South Georgia. Overnight lows will also start to creep up, with readings only in the upper 40s to low to mid 50s starting tomorrow night and for the rest of the week ahead.

By Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, readings will be well into the mid to upper 70s, and it won’t be out of the question for a few areas to top the 80 degree mark either day under a mostly sunny sky.

The only chance of rainfall, and a slight chance at that, comes Sunday with a weak boundary dropping down from the north. Otherwise, 2025 looks to end on a warm and dry note.
