AMERICUS, Ga. (WALB) — Two people were found by the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) with gunshot wounds on Sunday, Dec. 21.

No further details were released regarding the identities of the people who were shot. The severity of their injuries is also unclear at this time.

SCSO said they found the people with gunshot wounds while responding to the 400 block of Arch Helms Road in Americus at about 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.

The sheriff’s office said that this case is actively being investigated with the assistance of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).
