SAN ANTONIO, Texas (WOAI) — A woman has been charged with murder and arson after a man was found dead inside a home in far West Bexar County.

Authorities have identified the man found dead inside his Far West Side Bexar County home as 30-year-old Tomas Donard Calavera Jr. The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that Calavera died from a gunshot wound to the head.

Faith Paige Goynes, 40, has been charged with murder and arson in connection to the case. She is being held at the Calhoun County Detention Center near Port Lavaca.

The investigation began on Christmas Eve when deputies responded to a welfare check at Calavera's home off Gunsight Pass, near Harlan High School.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered Calavera with a fatal gunshot wound. Calavera's father, who had also been called to check on him, was at the scene.

Authorities are working to determine when Goynes will be transferred back to Bexar County to face charges.
