Description
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Extending the summer-like and dry conditions through Saturday. Enjoy a warm southerly breeze as highs top upper 80s low 90s. This wraps up the extended unseasonably warm dry period with high pressure dominating.
The ridge of high pressure breaks down and pushes away over the weekend. This allows a strong spring cold front to track east with showers and storms arriving into SGA around 4pm on Sunday. That’s when the FIRST ALert Weather Day begins as some storms could produce damaging winds, brief isolated tornadoes and heavy rain through the evening into early Monday. SPC has outlined areas west of I-75 in a Slight Risk (level 2/5) and a Marginal Risk mostly along and east of I-75. Be alert for any watches or warnings that may be issued. Also, check for updates from the FIRST Alert Weather Team as the front slowly tracks across the area. Expect periods of heavy rain with amounts of 1-2″+ through Monday.
The front clears SGA early Tuesday ushering in drier and much cooler air. Pull out your sweaters and jackets as lows drop into the 40s and highs in the 60s. Late week more seasonal highs mid-upper 70s with lows in the low 50s.
