Description

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - The mild weather that has been over South Georgia for the past few days looks to stick around through the Christmas holiday. Today will be the first of 5-6 consecutive days of highs at or above 70 degrees, some 10+ degrees above late December averages.

The peak of the warmth will come Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, when a few locales in the area will see high temperatures touch the 80 degree mark. Low temperatures will be mild as well, with readings in the upper 40s to middle 50s.

With an increase in low-level moisture, some patchy fog may break out tomorrow morning and especially Christmas morning, favoring areas west of Highway 19 tomorrow and west of I-75 for Christmas morning. Work some additional travel time into your plans if you will be heading anywhere in the early mornings the next two days.

A cold front will sweep through on Sunday, ending the warm weather temporarily and bringing the only meaningful chance of rainfall for the next week. Once the front clears the area, highs will be in the 50s to near 60 to start the week, with low temperatures perhaps well into the 20s, especially next Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.
