Description
VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) - Two people were arrested after Valdosta Police responded to a domestic dispute that escalated into gunfire on Friday, August 22.
According to VPD, around noon, officers were called to the 1400 block of North Lee Street after multiple citizens reported hearing a gunshot and seeing a man dragging a woman into a wooded area. Witnesses provided officers with detailed descriptions of both individuals.
When officers arrived, they located 24-year-old Tyeshaw Kenneth Jackson and 23-year-old Trennedy Dixon walking in the 400 block of East Ann Street. Dixon stopped to speak with officers, while Jackson continued walking before eventually returning and cooperating.
Investigators determined that the two had been in a verbal argument when Dixon attempted to walk away. Jackson then allegedly fired a gun in her direction. A Valdosta Police K9 Unit later tracked the weapon to a shed, where a handgun was found partially hidden.
As Jackson was being taken into custody, Dixon began yelling profanities and physically attempting to interfere with officers. She was also arrested.
Both were transported to the Lowndes County Jail.
Jackson is charged with:
- Aggravated assault (family violence) – felony
- Tampering with evidence – felony
- Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon – felony
- Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony – felony
Dixon is charged with:
- Disorderly conduct – misdemeanor
- Obstruction of a law enforcement officer – misdemeanor
“This was great work by not only our officers, but also the citizens who called E911 to provide the information. Our K9 Unit did a great job tracking to find the gun,” said Police Chief Leslie Manahan. “When this victim turned on our officers by yelling at them and attempting to push them physically, she caused herself more problems because our officers will not tolerate it.”
