ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WBFF) — The U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis was on lockdown Friday afternoon.
A Facebook post from Naval Support Activity Annapolis says that a security lockdown was in place at Gates 1 & 8, and the Visitor Control Center was closed, as well, for at least a half hour on Friday afternoon.
Officials asked people to avoid the area.
Additionally, Route 2 was closed at Route 648 in Annapolis, near Jonas & Anne Catharine Green Park for a public safety response.
It's unclear exactly why the lockdown was in place.
This is a developing story.
