SOUTH GEORGIA (WALB) - The United States of America will officially celebrate 249 years of independence from Great Britain on July 4.

Here’s how you can celebrate in South Georgia:

Ben Hill County

• The city of Fitzgerald’s Annual Fourth of July Celebration will be held at Paulk Park starting at 6 p.m. Several local bands will be performing live from 6-9 p.m. The fireworks show will be at 9:15 p.m.

Coffee County

• Fourth of July Freedom Fest 23025 in Douglas will start at 5 p.m. at Jardine Stadium JC Adams Municipal Park will feature a kids carnival, food, fireworks after dark, and more! For more information, call (912) 389-3401 or [email protected] .

Decatur County

• The city of Bainbridge will hold its free, annual July 4th Celebration at 6 p.m. at the Earle May Boat Basin. The Live music starts at 6 p.m. with the Kason Sellers Band, followed by Band X. The fireworks show will start at 9:30 p.m.

Dougherty County

• The city of Albany is celebrating with a fireworks show at the Exchange Club Fairgrounds, at 810 S. Westover Boulevard. Vendors will be on-site with cold beverages and hot food.

Miller County

• The Colquitt Freedom Fest will be from 6-9 p.m. on July 11 at Spring Creek Park. Admission is free, and there will be food, games, and kids’ activities. Vendors will be in attendance with products for sale.
