VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) - A teen, wanted out of Valdosta,  has now been arrested by the Riverdale Police Department for shoplifting.

According to Valdosta Police Department (VPD), on Jan. 14, 2025, police officers from the Riverdale Police Department, responded to a shoplifting call at a Walmart store. When officers arrived at the store, they contacted 16-year-old Damirie Washington. Washington was arrested without incident.

Further investigation showed that Washington had 3 felony active arrest warrants from the Valdosta Police Department for

  • Felony murder-felony
  • Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon-felony
  • Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony-felony

WALB previously reported that Washington was allegedly involved in a late Dec. homicide investigation that took the life of a 41-year-old man.

VPD Chief Leslie Manahan says, “We are thankful for the work of the Riverdale Police Department to help us get this dangerous juvenile off the streets. He can now be held accountable for his callous actions.”

Detectives are continuing to investigate the case and additional charges may be forthcoming.
