Description

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - New information released by the Albany Police Department (APD) provided details into what happened during a drive-by shooting early Thursday morning.

That shooting on Oct. 2 claimed the life of Malcolm Davis, 36, and injured another person inside the vehicle.

According to an incident report released by APD, the surviving victim stated the shooting happened at the light at the intersection of Broad Avenue and Front Street. Police said they noticed several shell casings in the roadway near the vehicle.

The report said that police found Davis in the passenger seat shot in the head, not moving. The surviving victim was taken to Phoebe Main.

Once authorities arrived at Phoebe, medical officials advised them that a projectile, such as a bullet, fell from the surviving victim’s clothing. Medical officials also told police that the surviving victim received two wounds to the left shoulder, three wounds to the right shoulder, one above the right buttock, one in the right hip and one in the center of the left shoulder.

According to the report, the surviving victim stated that the two were leaving Big Daddy’s located at 300 East Broad Avenue and were headed west on West Broad Avenue when the drive-by shooting took place.

The surviving victim said Davis was initially driving the vehicle, but they realized he was too drunk and switched seats. That’s when the surviving victim said a dark colored vehicle pulled up beside them and shot at them.

APD said that investigators have reviewed surveillance footage and are working to locate the vehicle. At this time, they are unable to provide a vehicle description, and no suspects have been identified.

Officials are asking anyone with information about this shooting to please contact crime stoppers at 229-436-8477 or APD at 229-302-0756.
