CORDELE, Ga. (WALB) - Two people have been charged in connection to the early Sunday morning incident at the Waffle House in Cordele.

According to Cordele Police (CPD), an office saw the shooting suspect on the front porch of a home in the city.

Cordele resident Kelwin Jackson, 20, was arrested in a coordinated effort by CPD and the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).

A second suspect, identified as Cordele resident Jermall Burks, 27, was found at a home in Cordele and was escorted to the police department by CPD officers and CCSO deputies.

CCSO said Jackson is being charged with aggravated assault. More charges are pending as the investigation progresses.

Burks is being charged with battery, as of this time.

It was originally reported that officers were called to the shooting incident at around 3:33 a.m.

When officers arrived at the Waffle House, they found they found two adult men who had been injured. One man was suffering from several gunshot wounds. The other man has been physically assaulted by several people.

Police say both men were taken to the hospital for medical treatment and are currently receiving care.

No Waffle House staff members were injured.
