BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (WALB) — [UPDATE: August 19, 2026 @11:58 am ] - According to the Decatur County Coroner, one person died in the incident.

No additional information is available at this time, and the Georgia State Patrol is investigating.

[ORIGINAL: August 19, 2026 @9:30 am] - A speeding vehicle caused a multi-vehicle crash in Bainbridge on Tuesday, Aug. 18.

Troopers spotted the vehicle speeding south on State Route 1 just after 5:30 p.m., according to Georgia State Patrol. GSP said the vehicle later crossed the median and struck four other vehicles.

Troopers turned around and headed south with lights and sirens on, but the car was out of sight by the time they reached the southbound lanes, according to GSP.

Troopers then came up on a crash scene involving the same vehicle, GSP said.

Investigators said the car spun through the median into northbound traffic, began rolling, and struck the roof of another vehicle, flipping it.

Debris also struck three other vehicles, according to GSP.

GSP is continuing to investigate the crash.
