ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — The Student Government Association (SGA) at Albany State University (ASU) is planning a walk to call for justice for Nolan Wells, a Mississippi teenager who mysteriously disappeared and was later found dead near Horn Island just off the coast.

The walk for justice is meant to raise awareness and to stand in solidarity with Wells and his family.

The walk will be held Monday, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. at the Student Center Amphitheater. An hour before, there will be an event for participants to make signs and posters.

Wells went to Horn Island to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday with friends, but never came home. His body was found two days later washed ashore on the island. It’s still unclear how exactly he died.

In September, the Jackson County district attorney announced a grand jury found no criminal wrongdoing in Wells’ death. It’s believed the teen drowned. However, the family’s attorneys contend the state autopsy showed two 2″ bruises on the back of Wells’ head. This information is consistent with what the independent autopsy showed as well.

Furthermore, results from the autopsy showed no water in Wells’ lungs or throat.
