ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — The man who fell to his death after being ejected from a roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia will be laid to rest Monday.

Hassan Kariem died on Oct. 12 after he was flung from the Goliath roller coaster while riding with his niece.

Kariem, 42, was a beloved father and Atlanta Public Schools teacher.

Several other parkgoers were injured in the accident.

A celebration of life service for Kariem will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 19, at the Atlanta Masjid of Al-Islam mosque, located at 560 Fayetteville Road SE in DeKalb County, according to his obituary.

Kariem’s body will then be interred at a local cemetery.

The investigation into exactly what happened at the park on Oct. 12 is still underway.

Park management called safety its highest priority. Six Flags has also temporarily shut down nine rides across six parks that are similar to Goliath, which uses a lap restraint.

Goliath is not operating while the state insurance commissioner’s office investigates.
