Description
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Two men are behind bars after a burglary at an Albany business. The incident occurred on Sunday at around 11 p.m. at Ridezilla on Kensington Court.
According to the Albany Police Department, the responding officer saw two men running away from the business. The two men were located and arrested after a brief search of the area.
A minor and 19-year-old Malachi Orlando Smith are facing a second-degree burglary charge. Police Chief Michael Persley said two additional suspects were seen in the business on surveillance video. APD is still searching for those suspects. A set of bolt cutters was recovered near the fence where police believe the suspects entered the property. According to police, no items were reported stolen.
Chief Persley credits the arrests with surveillance video provided by the business manager the night of the incident.
“It was good that they had access to the video in a timely manner. We encourage other people that have surveillance systems to make sure they are up to date.”
Chief Persley reminds business owners that they can register for the department’s camera registry program. This allows officers to access a business’s security camera if a crime is reported in the area.
