BROOKS COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - A traffic stop on U.S. Highway 84 in Brooks County led to the seizure of illegal narcotics, cash, and a vehicle, according to the Brooks County Sheriff’s Office.

A deputy stopped a vehicle near Mile Marker 13 after observing the driver speeding in a 65 mph zone. Authorities said the driver also abruptly slowed down and swerved after noticing the deputy.

The driver, identified as Jarqueze Cason, and passenger Tomeeka Rosenborough were found in possession of approximately two ounces of marijuana, 11 grams of cocaine/crack cocaine, additional crack cocaine, and about $9,000 in cash, investigators said.

Deputies also reported finding packaging materials, a digital scale, and other items they say were consistent with the sale of illegal narcotics.

The vehicle was also determined to be unregistered and uninsured and was seized.

The Brooks County Sheriff’s Office said proactive patrols will continue as part of efforts to remove illegal drugs from the community.

All suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
