ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Old man winter’s firm grip holds firm over the next 7 days. Tuesday’s highs stayed in the 40s despite abundant sunshine. Tonight bitterly cold as lows tumble into the 20s. Sunshine with chilly highs 40s and 50s on Wednesday.
Lows tumble back into the 20s Thursday while highs top the 40s. Look for a winter storm system to take shape over the northern Gulf in the coming day. As it lifts north, moisture increases across the region which sets the stage for a wintry mix of freezing rain, sleet and snow mostly across central and northern Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia through Friday.
Across #SGA latest forecast models are hinting at possibly a narrow window for freezing rain mostly across our northern counties. For all areas it’ll be a cold rain with temperatures only in the 40s. As the system pushes away, clearing and remaining cold through the weekend.
Keep in mind this forecast will change as the eventual track of the low will impact the where the dividing line sets up between liquid and frozen precipitation.
