ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Warming centers have opened in several South Georgia counties.
The centers opened in anticipation of the extreme cold weather.
Here are the warming centers that are currently available to those who need them:
Crisp County
- The Crisp County Recreation Department, located at 1205 N. 5th St. in Cordele, will open to the public on Wednesday, Jan. 8, at 6 p.m.
Dougherty County
- The Albany Transit Center will be open to the public every day until Tuesday, Jan. 14, from 6:30 p.m. until 7 a.m. the following day.
Lowndes County
- The warming center will be open daily until Saturday, Jan. 11, from 6 p.m. until 7:30 a.m. the following day.
Sumter County
- Calvary Episcopal Church in Americus from 4 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, until 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11, and 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11, until 9 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 12.
