COFFEE COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - A Tallahassee man is behind bars after deputies with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) found drugs in his vehicle.
A release by CCSO said the incident happened at a store on North Highway 221 on Wednesday, Sept. 10. Matthew Clay Chitty, 55, from Tallahassee, was found slumped behind the wheel of a vehicle.
During an investigation, he admitted to occasional methamphetamine use and consented to a search of his vehicle.
During the search, deputies found a clear plastic bag containing a blue crystal-like substance suspected to be fentanyl. Deputies also found another bag containing a crystal-like substance suspected to be methamphetamine.
The Douglas Coffee Drug Unit also went to the scene and conducted a brief investigation.
The investigation led to Chitty being charged with:
- Possession of fentanyl
- Possession of methamphetamine
Both charges are classified as felonies, according to CCSO.
