VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) - The Valdosta Police Department (VPD) says the suspect believed to be responsible for the armed robbery at Khushi Food Mart on Monday morning is now in custody.

According to VPD, 25-year-old Franklin Kier turned himself in.

Kier faces charges including:

• Armed Robbery (felony)
• Aggravated Assault (felony)
• Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony (felony)

Detectives arrested 35-year-old Kianna Grisby, believed to be an associate of Kier’s, for allegedly providing conflicting information during the investigation. She was charged with obstruction (misdemeanor).

According to VPD, officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at Khushi Food Mart located at 1509 Northside Drive at about 6 a.m. on Monday, September 15. The call came from a citizen who said that it appeared the store was being robbed.

Officers say that Keir entered the store brandishing a handgun and demanding money. At some point during the robbery, the gun was shot, VPD says.

According to VPD, after grabbing an undisclosed amount of money, Kier fled from the business.

There were no injuries reported as a result of the incident.
