COOK COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - Polls are closed, and the results are in on Tuesday, Sept. 16 for the Cook County special election for their District 1 Commission seat.

Democrat Phil Morris, Jr. had the most votes with 143 out of 249 total ballots cast. That makes about 57% of the vote.

Other data from the special election is as follows:

  • Brian Harrell (Independent): 61 total votes, about 24%
  • Willie R. Wooten (Democrat): 45 total votes, about 18%

Of 2,031 eligible voters in Cook County, only 249 individuals cast ballots in this election, according to Cook County elections officials. That’s just 12%.
