NICHOLLS, Ga. (WALB) - A woman once convicted in connection with a murder and elder abuse case in 2014 went back before a judge on June 25, this time accused of violating her probation.
Diana Jacobs admitted to one probation violation. But Wednesday’s hearing centered on a second alleged offense — counterfeit cash at a Dollar General.
Her original case made headlines in 2014.
Jacobs was sentenced to 20 years and convicted of elder exploitation and concealing the death of Alexander Hunter, whose body was found buried behind a local nursing home. Her husband, James Jacobs, is serving life for Hunter’s murder.

In the probation hearing on June 25, it was stated that Jacobs had already admitted to one violation, a DUI. The question on Wednesday was whether she tried to spend counterfeit money at a Dollar General or not.
“She told me she knew the bill was counterfeit when she received it, and she knew the bills were counterfeit when she passed it around Dollar General,” said Jeffery Raulerson, Douglas Police Department (DPD) investigator said.
Three witnesses testified: the DPD investigator and two people from Dollar General. The Dollar General store manager testified that Jacobs was told that the money was fake and the bills were handed back to her.
Against her attorney’s wishes, Jacobs decided to testify saying she never admitted guilt.
“My words to him, in that interview is, ‘I should have known.’ And that’s the reason I told my mom to call him back and tell him the truth. Because I should have been more careful and cautious because I know the man to do shady stuff,” Jacobs said.
Ultimately, the judge ruled that Jacobs violated the terms of her release, meaning a sentencing hearing will come next.
Sentencing for Jacobs is scheduled for a later date.
