COFFEE COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - Another former Coffee County jailer has been arrested and charged after allegedly bringing contraband into the jail and distributing it to inmates.
An ongoing investigation by the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office detectives involving jail officers smuggling contraband into the Coffee County Jail and distributing the items to inmates led to the second arrest, according to Douglas Now.
Jail records identify the second jailer as Brandon Reed, 19. He was arrested and charged with giving to or possession by inmates prohibited items on Dec. 17, according to jail records. He has since been released, according to Douglas Now.
WALB previously reported that another jailer admitted to smuggling in and distributing the contraband to inmates, on Dec. 10.
Douglas Now reports that nearly two weeks ago, detectives received information that illegal drugs and other contraband were being brought into the jail and distributed among the inmates.
