AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Kids who had to spend Christmas at the Children’s Hospital of Georgia this year got a special surprise Wednesday morning.

The big man in red made his way across Georgia, but he made a special stop along the way.

“There were a few of the children that weren’t able to get home for me to deliver last night. Today, I’m going to make a little special effort and make sure they have a wonderful Christmas,” said Santa.

Mason Dorsey has been at the Children’s Hospital of Georgia since August.

He spent his seventh birthday there, and now Christmas.

“The things we’ve had to witness him go through at just 6 years old. He just turned 7. It’s insane, and he’s been here since then and he’s a miracle. Everybody here at the hospital calls him a miracle, they call him miracle Mas,” said Mason’s mom, Tiffany Peterson.

Mason says his favorite part was seeing Santa walk in.

Peterson says no one wants to spend Christmas at the hospital.

“He’s my gift. So of course, wherever he is, that’s where we are,” said Peterson.

But she says seeing Mason happy is all she could ask for.

“For him to literally be smiling through all of this and be so happy to know and have good memories from this. I am so grateful for that so I’m so grateful,” she said.

Santa says his mission isn’t complete until he’s reached every kid no matter where they’re at.

“That’s what makes my season worthwhile. That’s the love of it,” said Santa.
