ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - A short documentary set in rural Georgia will make its world premiere at a renowned film festival this summer. The film will air on June 8, the fifth day of the festival.
Directed by two-time Academy Award-winner Ben Proudfoot, the documentary is titled “Doc Albany,” and it is said to discuss accessibility in the U.S. healthcare system. The story is told through the perspectives of Dr. Jim Hotz, who founded Albany Area Primary Health Care, and Dr. Sheena Favors, an OB-GYN and Co-Director of Women’s Health Services at the Community Health Center.
Both doctors said they have, “witnessed the profound implications of healthcare disparities found within marginalized populations.”
The Tribeca Film Festival is happening June 4 through June 15, 2025, in New York City.
“Doc Albany” is the third installment of a series about how technology positively impacts everyday lives, according to a press release. The other films in the series, called “Impact Films,” are “Forgiving Johnny” and “Never Done.”
