EASTMAN, Ga. (WGXA) — A woman was arrested after reportedly setting fire to an apartment building in Eastman.

According to the Eastman Police Department (EPD), fire crews and police responded to the Eastman Garden Apartments at around 7 p.m. Saturday evening.

At the scene, authorities found an entire building "affected by the fire that began in one apartment," said police.

After an investigation and help from witness testimony, EPD believes the fire was "intentionally" set by Laurie Howell, a resident at the complex.

EPD said Howell was arrested and charged with first-degree arson, second-degree criminal damage to property and two counts of aggravated assault.
