ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) -The Albany Museum of Art’s Kids Holiday Workshops were made for children and preteens to welcome in and celebrate the holiday season.

“These are always fun art experiences for our young artists,” AMA Director of Education and Public Programming Annie Van Oteghem said. “Exploring color and different media has a way of brightening up the short winter days.”

Participants will take part in a guided tour of the AMA exhibitions, including viewing a multi-gallery art exhibition of African art, and A Legacy Built with Nature, which marks the 130th birthdate of Athos Menaboni.

“They’ll learn new art techniques and skills from our talented instructors, who really relate to kids,” Van Oteghem said. “There will also be holiday-themed projects that they can take home. Some may even become part of their family’s holiday traditions.”

The workshops will include holiday-themed games and screenings of favorite holiday movies.

“With different projects and activities planned daily, there’s always something new and exciting to look forward to,” Van Oteghem said.

Below you can find dates and times participants can join:

    • Full day schedule (9 am-4 pm) and half-day (9 am-noon or 1-4 pm)

“The kiddos are out of school, but we know many parents will still be at work,” Van Oteghem said. “So, we are offering free early drop-off starting at 8 am and free late pick-up until 5 pm.”

Campers can bring a sack lunch, or the AMA will provide lunch on Monday for a $10 fee. All campers can enjoy free pizza on Tuesdays. “The pizza party on the last day of a camp week is an AMA tradition, even when we have a short two-day camp week because of the way Christmas and New Year’s Day fall,” she said.

Parents can register their kids for camp online by using the link at https://www.albanymuseum.com/ama_programs/winter-holiday-art-camp/.

The cost for the workshop is $50 ($40 for AMA donors) for a full day or $35 ($25 for AMA donors) for a half-day.
