ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Remnants of Francine will keep rain and storms likely through the weekend. Portions of SGA (Crisp, Dooly, Stewart, Sumter, Telfair, Webster and Wilcox Co) have been soaked with several inches of rain and are under a Flood Watch through Saturday. As more rain moves in with an additional 1-2″+, flash flooding is possible in those areas.
Expect periods of heavy rain with a few thunderstorms both days. Some will get more rain than other while all remain mostly cloudy as highs top upper 70s low 80s.
Rain chances hold through the first half of the week then drying out for a few days.
In the tropics, Gordon became the 7th tropical storm of the season. It’s forecast to stay away from land as it tracks over the central Atlantic. Closer to the lower 48 just off the East Coast an area of low pressure if forecast to develop along a stalled front. There’s a medium 40% chance for development. Models are shifting the system NW to the Carolina coast with heavy rain next week.
