BALTIMORE (WBFF) — A power outage at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport is impacting areas of the main terminal as well as causing "many" inbound flights to be diverted on Monday morning.
Director of Communications Jonathan Dean said that airport personnel are working to restore power as quickly as possible.
Dean says that flights are operating, but delays are possible and that passengers should check with their airlines for updated flight status information.
A spokesperson for Baltimore Gas and Electric Company says the outage was reported around 7:40 a.m. and caused by a downed power line near the airport.
According to a 9:50 a.m. update posted on social media, the airport says that power is slowly being restored to areas throughout the main terminal, and screening operations have resumed at some security checkpoints.
Some airlines are using air stairs to deplane their passengers.
This is a developing story. FOX45 will provide updates as they become available.
