Description

CAIRO, Ga. (WALB) - The Cairo Police Department (CPD) is warning the community to practice car safety ahead of the warm spring season.

As the weather heats up, CPD says to never leave your kids, any elders or pets in your car. Leaving people or pets in the car has the potential to lead to heat stroke and other injuries, the department said.

CPD also advised to always keep your car locked — even if it is parked in your driveway at home. They said this precaution will ensure young children do not climb into a car and become trapped.

The police department said to always check the back seat before locking your car in order to be sure no one will get stuck in a hot car. They said to remember this routine: Stop, look and lock your doors.
