GRADY COUNTY, Ga. (WCTV) - Suspects involved in a car chase after evading a traffic stop are still on the run from Grady County Sheriff’s Office deputies after they crashed the car, according to a press release from the agency.

The suspects were being pulled over for a traffic violation around Georgia Highway 93 south of Cairo at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday. Officials said they were driving a 2025 white Kia with Albany license plates.

The sheriff’s office said the driver “refused to comply” with the traffic stop and took off at high speeds.

Deputies said they began to chase the suspects and during the chase, the driver attempted to lose deputies by turning onto Blackshear Road. There, the vehicle lost control and crashed into a farm fence in a wooded area, per the press release.

Law enforcement said that multiple people then ran into the dense woods after the car crash.

“Upon securing the vehicle, deputies discovered a significant quantity of contraband along with illegal firearms inside,” GCSO wrote in the release.

According to the sheriff’s office, the suspects are still at large and the investigation is currently active. The agency said that if anyone has any information that can help with the investigation, they should call the Grady County Sheriff’s Office immediately.
