ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Phoebe Putney Health System is speaking out after misinformation about Albany Police Officer Quas’Jon “Officer Q” Flowers began circulating online.

According to Phoebe, a social media post falsely claimed that Officer Flowers had already received a kidney transplant. Hospital officials say that information is not accurate.

In a statement shared online, Phoebe said Officer Flowers remains in need of a life-saving kidney transplant and continues to face health challenges.

“Over the past few weeks, Officer Q has experienced additional health challenges and continues to await a life-saving kidney transplant. Our thoughts and prayers are with Officer Q and his family during this time,” Phoebe said in the statement.

WALB has previously shared Officer Flowers’ story as he continues his fight for a kidney transplant. The Albany community has rallied around the officer, showing support through fundraisers and events, including a motorcycle ride benefit to help offset medical expenses.

A GoFundMe campaign has also been established to support Officer Flowers and his family. As of Thursday morning, the fundraiser had raised approximately $2,500 toward its $50,000 goal.
