Description
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — A plan to crack down on insurance companies that delay or deny medically necessary care has failed in the U.S. Senate.
The proposal aimed to make it harder for insurers to deny coverage for treatments doctors say patients need — from routine checkups to major procedures — so families could actually use the coverage they pay for.
The amendment, introduced by Georgia Senator Jon Ossoff, failed on a 47-50 vote.
In a statement, Ossoff said, “across America, insurance companies continue to deny and delay medically necessary health care. A vote against this motion is a vote to allow insurance companies to continue denying needed health care to the American people.”
