LAURENS COUNTY, Ga. (WGXA) — One person is dead and three others were injured after two vehicles collided on State Route 31 on Sunday.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, the accident happened around 12:44 a.m. after a green Ford Ranger crossed the center lane and struck a red Kia Soul head-on that was traveling in the opposite direction on SR 31 south of SR 117.

The impact caused the Ford to overturn completely and the Kia to travel uncontrollably to the opposite side of the roadway. The man driving the truck was taken to Fairview Park Hospital.

GSP says the woman driving the Kia with her two children was found unresponsive at the scene. The woman and one of her children, who was sitting in the back seat, were flown to Wellstar Hospital in Augusta.

However, her son, who was sitting in the front seat, died from his injuries at the scene.

WGXA is working to confirm the identity of the person killed.
