TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - One person was arrested at the No Kings protest in downtown Tallahassee on Saturday.
Organizers say more than 1,000 people marched around the Old Florida Capitol, denouncing the Trump administration, calling out ICE and demanding policy change on a national level.
The arrest report says of the protest leaders, identified by WCTV as Sadie Carlson, was “observed walking in and out of Madison Street, Duval Street, and Jefferson Street.”
An FDLE Capitol Police officer “pointed, made eye contact and informed Carlson that he was obstructing the roadway and to exit the roadway a numerous amount of times,” per the arrest documents.
Police say Carlson once again entered Jefferson Street and was arrested for two misdemeanors — resisting an officer without violence and obstructing a highway. Court records show Carlson bonded out of jail on Saturday night.
WCTV contacted Carlson on Monday, who said the protest was not blocking traffic, and the road was closed for Springtime Tallahassee. According to the City of Tallahassee’s website, Jefferson Street was closed at the time for the festival.
WCTV has contacted FDLE for their response to Carlson’s claims, but has not yet heard back.
Editor’s note: WCTV does not typically show the booking photos of people charged with misdemeanors, unless they are a public official or there is a public safety concern.
