Description
ALMA, Ga. — Seven businesses in Bacon County are facing charges after an underage compliance sting that was conducted by the sheriff’s office.
The Bacon County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) used someone under 21-years-old to attempt to buy alcohol, tobacco, and vape products at multiple stores. Investigators said seven locations sold the products.
According to authorities, the following businesses were cited,
- Road Runners Truck Stop, East Side Minit Market, and The Easy were cited for selling cigarettes.
- Small Circle K, Browns Package Store, East Side Minit Market, and Road Runners are accused of illegal alcohol sales.
- Alma Vape and Smoke Shop and Small Circle K are cited for unlawful vape sales.
Deputies said all clerks involved have been criminally cited. Sheriff Batten said Georgia law bans the sale and possession of alcohol, tobacco, and vape products for anyone under 21, and stores must check a valid ID before making those sales.
The BCSO plans additional compliance checks to keep kids from accessing these products and to ensure local businesses comply with state law.
