Rashawn Cannon Identified as the man accused of killing Andrew Lansing on Christmas day (ODRC)
CHILLICOTHE, Ohio (WSYX) — The inmate accused of killing a correction officer at Ross County Correctional Institution has been identified.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol has identified Rashawn Cannon, 27, of Lima, as the inmate accused of killing Andrew Lansing. The incident occurred on Christmas Day.
Cannon, who was sentenced on September 28, 2023, for assaulting a woman with a handgun, was serving a minimum eight-year prison term, according to LimaOhio.com.
According to court documents, he was convicted of felonious assault and having weapons under disability.

Officer Lansing was remembered as a beloved colleague known for his support and professionalism. He was originally hired at Ross Correctional Institution in January 1994. He worked there until 2007, then he returned in March 2013.
Cannon was transferred to the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility following the incident.
