Description

GRADY COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - A Grady County Detention Center officer was placed on paid leave after an alleged misconduct complaint.

The Grady County Sheriff’s Office’s (GCSO) Chief Deputy Kent Harvey said the complaint was made by another employee. Harvey said the allegations have nothing to do with any inmates at the facility.

Sheriff Earl Prince took to Facebook to comment on the incident, saying it “warrants closer examination.”

The employee’s name has not been disclosed at this time because the case is under investigation. However, the sheriff’s Facebook post goes on to confirm that the officer was placed on paid leave.

I do not take this decision lightly. I ask for your patience as we complete this process, and I pledge to keep you informed with transparency every step of the way. Our officers are human beings who, like anyone else, can make mistakes. However, they are held to a higher standard — and rightfully so.
