CORDELE, Ga. (WALB) — A 19-year-old man drowned Saturday afternoon at Lake Blackshear after jumping from a floating dock and failing to resurface, according to the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office.

Crisp County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible drowning at approximately 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1. Public safety officials arrived near the floating dock, where bystanders had already attempted to locate the victim but were unsuccessful, according to the sheriff’s office.

The Sumter County Dive Team responded to the scene and located the victim. At approximately 4:20 p.m., the victim was recovered from the water.

The victim was identified as Darian Taylor, 19, of Ashburn, Ga.

The Crisp County Sheriff’s Office thanked all responding agencies for their assistance and extended condolences to Taylor’s family.
