STATESBORO, Ga. (WTOC) - A father and a son, meeting for the first time but in a heartbreaking way.

Jaiden Aspinwall met his first born son, not with happy tears and a baby blanket but instead, sedated in a hospital room.

Aspinwall’s family says he was heading to the birth of his son when his motorcycle collided with a car on Brampton Avenue in Statesboro.

According to Georgia State Patrol, he was transported to the hospital in Savannah.

Michelle Aspin, Jaiden’s Mother says the series of phone calls created a wave of emotions.

The most exciting moment of her life Turned into the most frightening.

“I hit my knees and just started praying, please, Please pull through,” said Michelle Aspinwall, mother of Jaiden Aspin.

Two of Aspinwall’s little boys, her grandson experiencing life, while her son is fighting for his.

“Its brought our family closer together, it has,” said Michelle. “Because when you look at what matters which was Jaiden and then Aiden.”

Jaiden’s family tells WTOC he has been in the hospital since March 27 and is expected to survive, but he has a long road to recovery ahead of him

“Jaiden’s life has been forever changed, he has a new baby, and he no longer work,” said Michelle.

The new family, who may have had a hard start, is now hoping for a brighter future.
