NEAR RECORD WARMTH

Published on: 01/06/2026

Description

Areas of dense fog this morning made way for some sun and a run past 70 degrees this afternoon. Once again, another round of fog is likely in the morning tomorrow, along with mist and drizzle making the morning commute a bit damp. Fog seems possible again Thursday morning. More warmth is expected tomorrow afternoon, with highs in the upper 70s. Near record high temperatures, near 80, are expected by Friday. A slight risk of severe storms develops to our west, which bring in rain over the weekend.

By Saturday a strong southwesterly breeze brings more moisture ahead of a cold front. Rain chances rise Saturday afternoon and the shower chances peak by Saturday night. A rumble of thunder is possible with some gusty winds, but organized severe weather is not expected at this time for South Georgia.

Drier and much cooler weather is expected Sunday with temperatures dropping about 20 degrees. Patchy frost will be possible by Monday morning and below average temperatures last through Tuesday.
