LEESBURG, Ga. (WALB) - Meet Weston Bryan, a multi-sport athlete who is rewriting the record books as a Trojan.
On the football field, Bryan made history with 63 touchdowns. He lead his team to a state championship appearance and the region title, where he was instrumental in their victory.
Bryan’s achievements don’t stop there. On the mat, he proved his strength and determination with a 24-0 season on top of winning the state heavyweight wrestling championship. Now, Bryan is working toward a deep postseason run on the diamond.
“It’s definitely been pretty awesome,” Bryan said. “Growing up as a kid, like, you think about how you would be as a senior. Definitely wanna think I’d be, like, where I’m at now and the season we’re having, but I think just being able to finish it out would be awesome.”
Whether it’s football, wrestling or baseball, Bryan brings passion and leadership to every game.
Off the field, he’s just as committed and excels in the classroom saying, “ Time management is the biggest thing. I got only a few classes in school, but there are some harder classes. But I think just discipline. Whether it comes to wrestling — trying to cut weight, or whether it’s baseball. Just the mental toughness of failing all the time and still being able to come back the next day.”
Bryan is headed to Georgia Southern University after graduation. He has undoubtedly left his mark in Lee County. He’ll work to do the same in Statesboro.
Bryan said his goal is, “just to be the best teammate, the best person I can be. Be able to improve myself. Whether that’s — whether I play in two, three years to start. But just keep improving and be the best teammate I can be. It’s my goal.”
