THOMAS COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - The Thomas County Sheriff’s Office has made a second arrest in reference to the 4-year-old girl that was found walking along the side of Highway 19 on the night of May 13.

Hannah Coleman, the child’s mother, has been arrested and charged with cruelty to children.

Coleman was arrested on Saturday, May 17.

This arrest comes days after the first when Coleman’s mother, the child’s grandmother, Lisa Vaughn was arrested.

The child was found around 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13 on Highway 19 in Ochlocknee, Ga. not far from the property that both the mother and grandmother live on.

When investigators arrived on the scene, they said the child had the family dog with her, and she was asking for her grandmother. This led investigators to believe the child was supposed to be in the care of the grandmother, but at that time, officials did tell WALB that they would continue to investigate and more arrests would be forthcoming.

Officials told WALB on May 14, that the child was placed with family with the assistance of the Department of Family & Children Services.
