Description
BRYAN COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - In a news conference Thursday night, the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) confirmed that the body of the worker who fell into the Ogeechee River from the I-95 bridge on April 7, 2025, has been found.
Around 4 p.m., deputies received a call from the Ford Field & River Club reporting a strong odor coming from their dock.
Upon arrival, deputies and an assisting investigator located a body beneath a private dock within the Ford Field & River Club that matched the description of the missing person, identified as 55-year-old Jose Garcia Hernandez.
The family of Mr. Garcia Hernandez’s family has been notified.
Before the discovery Thursday, multiple agencies had searched the area of the Ogeechee River near the I-95 bridge for Hernandez. The search was officially called off on April 22, 2025, which was day 16, due to the river’s bend in that area.
The body will be taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s crime lab in the morning before being released to the family, according to BCSO.
This is a developing story.
