CRISP COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - A Minnesota man was arrested by deputies with the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) after the Flock system alerted deputies to a stolen vehicle.
The alert was in reference to a stolen 1999 GMC Denali out of Montgomery, Minnesota with a possible armed and wanted suspect driving the vehicle, according to a CCSO release.
Deputies found the vehicle in the parking lot of Love’s Truck Stop. The deputies, along with members of the Mid-South Narcotics Task Force, made a tactical approach to the vehicle.
The suspect was asleep in the back seat with a loaded shotgun within arms reach, according to CCSO.
CCSO identified the suspect as Bryton Nelson, 29. He was taken into custody without incident.
He is wanted for the following:
- Violation of a protection order out of Scott County, Minnesota
- Theft of vehicle out of Rice County, Minnesota
Nelson is now facing the following charges:
- Possession of weapon by a convicted felon
- Possession of a weapon in the commission of certain crimes
- Theft by bringing stolen property into the state
“Sheriff Hancock is proud of his deputies and the safe apprehension of Nelson,” said the release.
