WASHINGTON (TNND) — President-elect Donald Trump tapped his former director of national intelligence as the new CIA director.

John Ratcliffe was nominated to lead the Central Intelligence Agency when Trump returns to the White House.

From exposing fake Russian collusion to be a Clinton campaign operation, to catching the FBI’s abuse of Civil Liberties at the FISA Court, John Ratcliffe has always been a warrior for Truth and Honesty with the American Public. When 51 intelligence officials were lying about Hunter Biden’s laptop, there was one, John Ratcliffe, telling the truth to the American People, Trump wrote in a statement.

Ratcliffe will be the first person ever to serve in the country's highest intelligence positions. Ratcliffe served as director of national intelligence for the final year and a half of Trump’s first term.

Trump called him a "fearless fighter" who will "ensure the highest levels of national security."

Ratcliffe was also a former Republican congressman from Texas. He was a member of the House Intelligence and Judiciary Committees and as Cybersecurity Chairman on the Homeland Security Committee.

The selection of Ratcliffe follows a pattern for Trump in putting people close to him in pivotal roles.

Trump also announced that attorney William Joseph McGinley will serve as his White House Counsel.

"Bill is a smart and tenacious lawyer who will help me advance our America First agenda while fighting for election integrity and against the weaponization of law enforcement," Trump wrote in a statement.

McGinley was Trump's White House Cabinet Secretary during his first term.
