WASHINGTON (TNND) — Medicaid recipients on Tuesday reported an outage that has them worried about their health insurance coverage.
Recipients report that they have been unable to log into the Payment Management Services web portal, or PMS, run by the Department of Health and Human Services, which handles payments.
Reports of the outage come after President Donald Trump ordered a freeze on federal grants and loans.
However, the White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt wrote on X that the White House is aware and that payments would not be impacted.
We have confirmed no payments have been affected — they are still being processed and sent.
Leavitt added that the portal would be back online "shortly."
During Leavitt's first press briefing Tuesday afternoon, she was asked if she could guarantee that no individual now on Medicaid would see a cut off because of the cost. She responded, "I'll check back on that and get back to you."
