DOOLY COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - The Dooly County Sheriff’s Office is remembering a K-9 officer who died after a battle with cancer.
According to a post, Tiesto served the sheriff’s office for 7 years. During his time serving, he seized:
- seized about $1.1 million in U.S. Currency
- seized over 300 pounds of illegal drugs
- was apart of about 100 arrests
- made 10 nonphysical apprehensions
He was assigned to be a member of the Dooly County Dooly County Sheriffs Response Team Specialized Traffic Enforcement Patrol (S.T.E.P.) and the Tri-County Special Response Team.
He assisted in many school searches and demonstrations for the kids in the community to teach them about drug awareness.
The sheriff’s office said Tiesto only survived a few short weeks after being diagnosed with cancer.
We want to thank Pam Rogers for providing us with the dogs that help bring us home every day! We also want to thank Blackshear Veterinarian Clinic for their hard work, dedication, and compassion to help treat and care for him in his last days .
"We taught one another valuable skills and we were rewarded with not only statistics but a partnership and bond that only K-9 handlers understand. We believe that we are the trainers, but it was Tiesto, and all those who came before him that make us better for the next journey. Thank you Tiesto for all you taught me. I will be better because of you," the post said.
