Description
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - The Marine Corps Logistics Base may be affected by President Donald Trump’s efforts to minimize the federal workforce.
On April 2, WALB received a tip that civilian employees received a letter from the Secretary of Defense about voluntary separation programs.
The letter states that the Department of Defense (DoD) “will conduct its own Deferred Resignation Program (DRP) and offer the Voluntary Early Retirement Authority (VERA) to all eligible civilian employees in conjunction with or independent of DRP.”
The letter went on to say approved employees will not be subject to return to in-person work. Leaders say analysis will be conducted to determine which positions will be exempt.

MCLB officials have released a statement about the separation programs.
MARCORLOGCOM will comply with all orders and directives issued by the Secretary of Defense, including the recent memorandum—” Initiating the Workforce Acceleration & Recapitalization Initiative” and “Guidance on Department of Defense Deferred Resignation Program.” MARCORLOGOM employees have received the memorandum and are aware of these initiatives. MARCORLOGCOM is committed to providing clear guidance and consistent communication to support our workforce.
Right now, it’s unknown how many employees might be affected.
