LEE COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - The Lee County sheriff’s office (LCSO) is warning the community about a recent scam, involving scammers calling residents claiming they missed jury duty.
In a Facebook post, LCSO said the caller may say there is a warrant for your arrest and demand payment of a fine to avoid being arrested.
LCSO said they will never call residents to demand payment of any kind or threaten arrest over the phone.
Officials said you should never give these scammers any personal or financial information. Residents should hang up immediately if they receive a call like this.
LCSO says residents with questions about jury duty should call the Clerk of Court directly at (229) 759-6018.
